Well, I watched one episode. It's an odd show in that it's pulled back from the romanticized version of that era we're familiar with... and then sort of overshot it into a world that I imagine to be an exaggeration of its darker specifics. And the Draper character seems as if he isn't sure which reality he wants to inhabit.
